In the ASTM Compass database look for "Other Publishers" and click AWS, as shown above. Or search for AWS publications by name.

Effective immediately VDOT users of ASTM Compass will have access to a new class of content: More than 280 online reference sources from the American Welding Society (AWS). These resources are available from any VDOT-connected computer and are freely accessible with the VDOT Library's ASTM Compass subscription.

These ANSI-approved resources include some key reference materials that many VDOT engineers will find highly useful, including:

AWS D1.5M/D1.5:AMD2016 Bridge Welding Code
This code covers the welding requirements for AASHTO welded highway bridges made from carbon and low-alloy constructional steels. This edition contains dimensions in metric SI Units and U.S. Customary Units. Clauses 1 through 7 constitute a body of rules for the regulation of welding in steel construction. The provisions for Clause 9 have been distributed throughout the D1.5 code. Clauses 8, 10, and 11 do not contain provisions, as their analogue D1.1 sections are not applicable to the D1.5 code. Clause 12 contains the requirements for fabricating fracture critical members.

AWS D1.6/D1.6M:2017 Structural Welding Code Stainless Steel
The product of a pool of experts arriving at a consensus position, in keeping with ANSI requirements, this code covers the requirements for welding stainless steel components other than pressure vessels or pressure piping. For years fabrications  involving structural stainless steel welding used AWS D1.1/D1.1M, Structural Welding Code—Steel, to provide the requirements for quality construction. However, as the AWS D1.1 document is written for the carbon and low-alloy steels commonly encountered in  structural fabrication, it does not explicitly address the unique requirements of stainless steels. The AWS Structural Welding Committee recognized the industry need for an AWS D1.1 analogue designed for the welding of stainless steel wrought and cast shapes and plates.

AWS D1.1/D1.1M:2020 Structural Welding Code-steel

This code covers the welding requirements for any type of welded structure made from the commonly used carbon and low-alloy constructional steels. Clauses 1 through 11 constitute a body of rules for the regulation of welding in steel construction. There are eight normative and eleven informative annexes in this code. A Commentary of the code is included with the document.
