With nearly 30,000 books, videos, summaries and now audio books, Skillsoft has a ton to offer. You can spot audio books by the headphones icon shown on the book thumbnail (see above).
From time to time at the VDOT Research Library we get asked: "Do VDOT employees have access to audio books?"
The quick answer is now yes!
These days the Skillsoft Books database, one of VDOT's most popular full-text online subscriptions, includes way more than "just books" including tens of thousands of eBooks, but also videos, book summaries and yes, nearly 3,000 full-length audio books on Business, Technology Transformation, Productivity and Collaboration and Technology.
Perfect timing for VDOT employees interested in personifying the "VDOT of Tomorrow."
These days, audio books are a great option for professional development and since they're in audio format you can download them to a mobile device for your next walk or play them any time you have a few minutes to spare.
These audio books can be accessed via smartphones or downloaded as .mp3 files for transfer to portable devices, which makes them a great option for teleworkers interested in professional development and a lunchtime walk to keep sane and get a change of scenery.
The Skillsoft Books interface does not include audio software, but selecting "Download" allows you download the book as a series of .mp3 files, which can be "played" on VDOT computers (just click to file to download it and once fully downloaded click it again to play it), or e-mailed to yourself or a colleague for playback on a smartphone.
