The ICE Virtual Library is your portal to 37,000 full-text articles on topics from civil engineering to materials science, to urban planning and more.

Following a successful trial last spring the VDOT Research Library is pleased to announce a new subscription to 40 ejournals in the ICE Virtual Library collection.

To get you started we created these online guides: ICE Virtual Library Quick Start Guide and ICE Journal Holdings

These journals from the U.K.'s Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) add new dimension to VDOT collections. However, due to duplication with the agency's Knovel account we decided not to subscribe to about 1,500 ICE eBooks. We also selected only 40 of 46 journals.

ICE gives us no way to suppress non-subscribed resources, so you may see non-subscribed content in search results. Our advice is to look for one of these 3 icons next to a title indicating availability when you browse or search:

No icon = no full-text access through our account.

But by now most of you know the library's Document Delivery Service can get a copy of nearly anything we do not own in 1-2 weeks, right?  That includes ICE publications!
