Links to full text for older publications like this 1974 Transportation Research Record, now appear in TRID records.
Ever wish you could wave a magic wand and get full text access to classic publications from the Transportation Research Board?
Wish no more, as the TRB Library is in the process of digitizing all pre-1996 issues of Transportation Research Record and Highway Research Record, as well as all pre-2000 TRB reports and other series that have never been available online before.
An up-to-date list of volumes that have been digitized is shown below (click on the title to see issue availability) and will be updated periodically in the coming months.
Transportation Research Record (TRR)
Highway Research Board/Transportation Research Board Special Reports
Highway Research Board Bulletin
One thing to know is that TRB is digitizing serial publications (like Transportation Research Record and Highway Research Record) by "issue" not by "article." So of if you see a TRID record with a URL like the one above, when you click on the link you'll get one big pdf of the entire issue, so you'll need to browse through it to find your specific article.
The good news is the scans are pretty darn clean, have Optical Character Recognition (which means you can search the text of the document), and best of all these publications all are publicly accessible so you can get to the full text from your VDOT computer or any connected device.
Of course, your library still has boatloads of hard copy publications (TRB and many other publishers) should you ever need them!
We're always just a click, a call or a chat away...
