VDOT employees have several options for accessing online publications and standards from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). This guide is intended to help VDOT employees find and use many of the most current and popular AASHTO publications available electronically via two of the VDOT Library's Subscription Databases: ASTM Compass and Knovel, both of which feature a wealth of digital AASHTO publications. The library also has a large collection of printed AASHTO publications, which can be located and borrowed through the Library Catalog.

This guide is intended to provide VDOT Employees quick access to resources available to them through VDOT Library subscriptions. The links on this guide will work from computers connected to the VDOT network or through VPN. Employees off the VDOT network can connect to these resources by using their Virtual Library Card credentials.

Note: Both ASTM Compass and Knovel require VDOT users to sign up for an additional username and password. See the quick start guides on the help page for more info on getting set up. The links below will direct you to the full text of the document in the respective database though please keep in mind that in both cases YOU WILL NEED TO SIGN IN FIRST with each new browser session before viewing the full text.
