After registering for your ORCID, you can add personal information, educational background, published works, grant awards, and other details to your profile. Adding these things will increase the usefulness of your profile for others who wish to determine what work you have done in the past. Get started with edits by signing in to your account.
Note: For tips on how to edit your profile page, see this great article by Rebecca Bryant.
Author and researcher privacy is a fundamental principle of ORCID and every user can define privacy settings for their own ORCID record data. ORCID provides three settings: Everyone, Trusted or Only Me
Information marked with the green logo is "Public" and can be viewed by anyone who comes to the ORCID.org website. It can also be or consumed by anyone using the ORCID public API and will also be included in the public data file posted annually by ORCID.
Information marked with the yellow logo has "Limited" visibility and can be seen only by "Trusted Parties" you have authorized to connect to your ORCID Record. These connections require explicit action on your part. You will be asked if you would like to make a specific connection, and once you have confirmed, the Trusted Party will be able to see information that you have marked as such.
Information marked with the red logo is "Private" and can only be seen by you. It is also used by ORCID algorithms to help distinguish your identity from another person who may have a similar name, may be in a similar field, or may be confused with you for other reasons. This information is not shared with anyone.
