Knovel: Quick Start Guide: New Users

If you work at VDOT but have never used Knovel before, follow these instructions to get started. 

1. From the Library's Web site or the Library's Online Catalog follow one of the links to Knovel. A handy link for your bookmarks or favorites is: https://library.virginiadot.org/resources/knovel

2. The first time (and only the first time) a new user who has never had a Knovel account goes to the database they will be directed to a "profile" screen that looks like this:

For VDOT personnel on the VDOT network, Okta will detect and pre-populate the key profile fields as indicated by the arrows (above). You will see that you are automatically recognized "by name." You should see your first name, your last name and your VDOT e-mail address. If you want, you can fill out additional profile fields and save the results.

NOTE: New users will only see this screen one time: The very first time they access Knovel via Okta.
