When you find an EBSCO eBook you're interested in reading, you may notice that is only available as a PDF file, only available as an EPUB file, or in some cases is available as both! (see image below):
The PDF file option (if available) is a great choice if you want to start reading right from a desktop or laptop computer with one click! It looks like this:
Reading navigation tips:
1. Scroll through the book using the slider on the far right.
2. Advance page by page using the left and right arrows at the bottom of the screen.
3. Want to download an entire chapter (handy for reading a portion of the book when your device is offline)? Select the download arrow icon next to a chapter.
The EPUB file option (if available) is also a viable option if you want to start reading right away with one click! It looks like this:
Reading navigation tips:
1. Advance page by page using the left and right arrows at the bottom of the screen.
2. Want to download an entire chapter (handy for reading a portion of the book when your device is offline)? Select the download arrow icon next to a chapter.
3. Use the + and - controls shown in the lower right to change the font size for optimal viewing.
Note: EPUB is the best option if you want to read from (or if you plan to transfer the book to) a portable device like a kindle or nook. However, some people also like the EPUB option because EPUB automatically resizes to fit the screen of the device you are using it on and the font size can be adjusted so that the text "flows" for perfect viewing (even at very large or very small sizes). PDFs are not re-flowable, so their text size cannot be adjusted.
Example 1: EPUB set to a small font size
Example 2: EPUB set to a large font size
The Full Download option allows you to check-out and download an eBook and read it on your computer when you are not connected to the Internet, or transfer it to an Adobe Digital Editions-compatible eBook Reader device. The following devices (more than 205 in all) and mobile phone applications are compatible Adobe Digital Editions platform for eBooks.
When you select the Download option you will be prompted to log in with your free EBSCO account (see Register in the next section of this guide, if needed):
Next, you will be prompted to select your download duration (the default, which we recommend is 365 days) and your format (if applicable), as shown below:
