VDOT users of Engineering Workbench consent to Accuris's Terms and Conditions of use in order to get to content. Those Terms and Conditions address allowed and disallowed uses of the TIA and IEC standards found in the database. Failure to follow these terms and conditions can result in the suspension of an individual's account or the revocation of access to the database for all VDOT users, in addition to individual liability for copyright violation from the owner of the intellectual property.
With that in mind the library urges VDOT users to carefully review the Accuris/S&P Global Terms and Conditions. If you have questions about your use of this content, please contact the library or Accuris customer support for help before your use.
VDOT's license allows any VDOT employee to register for an account that provides access to the TIA standards in VDOT's subscriptions through Engineering Workbench, however, users agree to the "Terms and Conditions" of the Accuris license for accessing those standards. Here are some key provisions:
VDOT Users May:
VDOT Users May Not:
Users of the system may see that when they search for and select a TIA standard, they will be guided first to a "click through" copyright agreement in the "Document Viewer" screen. That notice reads: "The materials contained herein have been reproduced and distributed by Accuris and are governed by Terms and Conditions of Use. All rights reserved." Users must click the "Accept" button to proceed to the standard. That screen looks like this:
Users who click the "Accept" button will see a full-text pdf copy of the standard load in the Document Viewer screen, which looks like this, and contains additional copyright notices:
The first notice (above) appears in the frame displaying the pdf. It reads: "© 2024, Accuris. All rights reserved. Reproduction in whole or in part without permission is prohibited."
The second set of notices are "stamped" onto the pdf itself. They appear on every page of every standard accessed through Accuris, and record the licensee (VDOT) as well as the individual who accessed the standard, to clearly indicate copyright responsibility.
Here they are magnified:
The first says:
Copyright Telecommunications Industry Association
Provided by Accuris under license with TIA
No reproduction of networking permitted without license from Accuris
The second displays the licensing organization, the name of the individual user, and the date of download. In this case, it reads:
Licensee=Virginia Dept of Transportation/596086001, User=Winter, Ken
