Using the SharePoint Mobile App: Home

This guide walks VDOT employees through the process of downloading the SharePoint Mobile App and accessing VDOT's new SharePoint Online site from any connected device.

SharePoint Online and the SharePoint Mobile App

VDOT is upgrading from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint Online (SPOL), a cloud-based solution that will better support the "VDOT of Tomorrow" initiative and many other initiatives central to the agency's Business Plan. Because it is cloud-based, SPOL is more flexible. VDOT employees will have new options for staying connected to SharePoint team news, sites, and important links — regardless of their physical location or what kind of device they are using. Most of us will be using SharePoint Online via our VDOT computer. But a new option for access will the use of a mobile device running the SharePoint Mobile App. Again, the Mobile App is "optional" but since we're all a lot more mobile than we used to be, we created this guide to show you how to download, install and start using the SharePoint Mobile App.

Operating System Requirements For Use
The SharePoint Mobile App can only work on devices running the following Operating Systems:

Apple Devices: iOS 11 (or higher)
Android Devices: Android 5 (or higher)

OKTA Authentication

Upon installation (and for all subsequent use) the SharePoint Mobile App will prompt VDOT users to perform "multi-factor" authentication with OKTA. The first factor will be the employee's VDOT user name and network password. Authorized users will be sent an SMS authentication code or can specify another authentication method. For support contact the VITA Customer Care Center (VCCC).
