Cataloging, Collections and Technical Services
Gil Kenner, head of technical services, continued to work "in person" on day a week this quarter. Library print collections had been quarantined from March to June, when our doors were locked to patrons and staff. Gil continued to visit the library for shipping, receiving and other "hands-on work" with the collection, which increased as the quarter wore on. In other news we discovered the "improved" report we were using to collect circulation statistics was producing inaccurate results, so we switched back to a standard report in EOS (our library catalog. However, the biggest news of the quarter for this department was that the library recorded progressively higher levels of print collections use (as measured by checkouts and renewals) and record high levels of self-service online downloads from the library's 16 subscription databases.
