Interlibrary Loans (ILL) and Document Deliveries
Interlibrary lending and document delivery, led by Barb Neyman, is a critical for delivering resources we don't own to patrons. We use OCLC's WorldShare ILL to lend and borrow from libraries worldwide, though we have been listed as a "non-lender" since March 2020. Despite this fact we still received 26 requests from libraries in 14 U.S. states, and Denmark and Canada. All were turned away, as will other requests in the near-term future. We borrowed 26 items from academic libraries this quarter. When we can safely staff this service we will resume lending. Requests for P.E. Exam study materials were prominent in ILL this quarter. Our extensive exam study materials were all loaned to employees.
This quarter the library requested and received 26 total items from other libraries. 18 libraries worldwide supplied items to our library. All, 26 of our requests were supplied by academic libraries and none were filled by state, federal or transportation libraries. Items requested were from libraries in 12 states. In all, 16 of the requests were filled as hard copy (books/reports) and 10 as photocopy/digital/ fax (articles, chapters, excerpts).
This quarter we received 26 requests from 25 libraries in 14 states plus Denmark and Canada. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were not able to fill any requests. This is only the second quarter (since 2006) that we have not filled any ILL requests. The first was when the COVID-19 pandemic started in FY20Q4.
