Interlibrary Loans (ILL) and Document Deliveries
Interlibrary lending and document delivery, led by Barb Neyman, is a critical for delivering resources we don't own to patrons. We use OCLC's WorldShare ILL to lend and borrow from libraries worldwide, though we have been listed as a "non-lender" since March 2020. Despite this fact we still received 26 requests from libraries in 14 U.S. states, and Denmark and Canada. All were turned away, as will other requests in the near-term future. We borrowed 26 items from academic libraries this quarter. When we can safely staff this service we will resume lending. Requests for P.E. Exam study materials were prominent in ILL this quarter. Our extensive exam study materials were all loaned to employees. This quarter we borrowed 10 items via ILL and loaned zero items for the 5th quarter in a row.
This quarter the library requested and received a total of 10 total items from other libraries. Six libraries supplied items to us, though none were transportation libraries. Eight of our requests were supplied by academic libraries, 1 from a federal/government library, and 1 from a public library. Items requested were from libraries in four U.S. states. In all, 4 of the requests were filled as hard copy (books/reports) and 6 as photocopy/digital/ fax (articles, chapters, excerpts).
This quarter we received 47 requests from 26 libraries in 17 states and two foreign countries (Denmark and Canada). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were not able to fill any requests for the 5th quarter in a row.
