There are in fact nearly 100,000 records in the catalog with links to electronic books or similar links to full-text online versions of printed resources in our collections. That includes records and links to eBooks from full-text subscription databases like Skillsoft Books, EBSCO and Knovel.
In most cases, these items can be accessed online by simply by clicking on the link provided in the record. There is no need to "Check out" or place a "Hold" on such items (unless there is also a print version and you want to check that out). Instead you can start using eBooks with a few clicks.
Furthermore, with your Virtual Library Card, these E-books are accessible both ON and OFF of the VDOT network. That means you can check out and use eBooks from your home computer or connected reading device any time you like!
